Teen Fatally Shot With Hands Up by PA State Police

Pennsylvania teen had his hands up when fatally shot by State Police. New videos show
Authorities obscured the last 4 seconds of Christian Hall’s life in publicly released videos.

STROUDSBURG, Pa. — A Chinese American teenager who was fatally shot by Pennsylvania State Police last year had his hands in the air when troopers opened fire, new videos reveal, prompting calls for an independent investigation.

The videos, recorded by the State Police, show the final moments of Christian Hall’s life on the afternoon of Dec. 30, 2020.

Hall, 19, who had been diagnosed with depression, was standing on the ledge of a highway overpass near Stroudsburg, in northeastern Pennsylvania, when troopers arrived. They tried to persuade him to get down, but when they saw he had a gun — later determined to be a realistic pellet gun — they backed away.

Video previously released by the Monroe County district attorney shows Hall raising his hands in the air, with the gun in one hand, after a trooper fired bullets that struck the bridge.

But the final seconds before he was killed were blurred by authorities.

Deaths from Police Violence Undercounted Study Finds

New research published in the journal The Lancet shows that official government statistics have undercounted deaths at the hands of U.S. police by more than half over the last 40 years.

At least 1,055 people were shot and killed by police during 2021, the highest number since the Washington Post began tracking killings by police officers.

Police Have Covered Up Roughly HALF Of The People They Killed Since 1980

A new study claims that police departments across the United States have not been honest about the number of people they’ve killed since 1980, and roughly half of the actual deaths have been attributed to non-police actions. The study says that officers are able to work with coroners and other officials at the local level to rewrite their own stories about what happened, which ultimately changes the cause of death for the people they kill.

George Holliday Who Filmed Beating of Rodney King dies of Covid

Lawrence O’Donnell explains how George Holliday’s video recording of the police beating of Rodney King was the first time all of white America saw how policing works in Black America.

His video documented one of the first cases of Police Brutality and Abuse seen by people around the world.

MSNBC’s Chief Legal Correspondent Ari Melber explores the history of how videos helped advanced police accountability and traces the evolution across policy, politics and technology.  This all stated with George Holliday’s recording of the police beating of Rodney King.

George Holliday, man who filmed Rodney King beating, dies of Covid

LOS ANGELES – George Holliday, the Los Angeles plumber who shot grainy video of four white police officers beating Black motorist Rodney King in 1991, has died of complications of Covid-19, a friend said Monday. Holliday, 61, died Sunday at a Los Angeles hospital, where he had been for more than a month, according to Robert Wollenweber, a longtime friend and former coworker.

Per the above article; George Holliday, the Los Angeles plumber who shot grainy video of four white police officers beating Black motorist Rodney King in 1991, has died of complications of Covid-19, a friend said Monday.

Holliday, 61, died Sunday at a Los Angeles hospital, where he had been for more than a month, according to Robert Wollenweber, a longtime friend and former coworker. Holliday was not vaccinated and was on a ventilator in recent days after contracting pneumonia, Wollenweber said.

Holliday was awakened by a traffic stop outside his San Fernando Valley home on the night of March 3, 1991. He went outside to film it with his new video camera, catching the Los Angeles officers punching, kicking and using a stun gun on King, even after he was on the ground.

A year later, Holliday’s out-of-focus footage — about 9 minutes worth — was a key piece of evidence at the four officers’ criminal trial for assault and excessive use of force.

When a jury acquitted all the officers on April 29, 1992, the city erupted in widespread violence. Hundreds of businesses were looted and destroyed over several days. Entire blocks of homes and stores went up in flames. More than 60 people died by shootings or other violence, mostly in South Los Angeles.

The uprising seemed to catch the rest of the nation by surprise, but longtime residents said tensions were building in South LA for years and the King verdict was just the tipping point.

On the third day of the riots, King went on TV to plead for calm, asking in a trembling voice, “Can we all get along?”

King sued Los Angeles over the beating and was awarded $3.8 million in 1994, but he told The Associated Press in 2012 that he lost most of that money to bad investments. King drowned in his backyard swimming pool on June 17, 2012, at age 47.

Per the above article; “In graphic, matter-of-fact chatter picked up on his body-camera mic, a Louisiana State trooper implicated in the death of a Black man can be heard talking of beating and choking him before “all of a sudden he just went limp.”

“I beat the ever-living FUCK out of him,” the trooper said in a 27-second audio clip obtained by The Associated Press”.

“It is the most direct evidence to emerge yet in the death last year of Ronald Greene, which troopers initially blamed on injuries from a car crash at the end of a chase. The long-simmering case has now become the subject of a federal civil rights investigation and growing calls for authorities to release the full body-cam video”.

OPINION; Cops who repeatedly tasered Ronald Greene, bragged about beating the FUCK out him and caused his death, should be ARRESTED and charged with MURDER.  If found guilty by a court of law, those responsible deserve being FRIED in the ELECTRIC CHAIR!

Deputies Knocked A Woman Unconscious, Then Lied About It

A woman who pulled off a road to change drivers during a trip with her father and three young children was knocked unconscious and arrested by two Northern California sheriff’s deputies, who then lied about the encounter to responding paramedics and on official reports, according to a federal lawsuit filed Wednesday.

Body cameras worn by the deputies with the Solano County Sheriff’s Office recorded them pulling guns on Nakia Porter before slamming her to the pavement while handcuffing her along a rural road in the town of Dixon on the night of Aug. 6, 2020. Porter’s father, Joe Powell, was also placed in handcuffs and briefly detained.

Porter was jailed overnight on suspicion of resisting arrest, but never charged. She said the ordeal was confusing and dehumanizing.

“I was doing my best to do everything right, giving no reason to be treated like this,” said Porter, 33, who is Black.

The lawsuit brought by attorney Yasin Almadani accuses the deputies of violating state and federal civil rights statutes by engaging in “unlawful seizure, assault and excessive force.”

Five Miami Beach cops charged after pummeling two men

Five Miami Beach police officers were hit with criminal charges on Monday for using excessive force on a man in handcuffs and for pummeling a bystander who was videotaping the incident on his cellphone.

Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle, with Miami Beach Police Chief Richard Clements at her side, announced the charges after showing a four-minute video clip in which 21 officers descend on a man they chased into a South Beach hotel, who is alleged to have hit an officer with his motor scooter.

In the video, one officer repeatedly kicks the handcuffed man in the head, before another officer picks him up and slams his head to the ground. A short while later a group of officers redirect their attention to a man videotaping the incident. He’s soon slammed into a concrete pillar, then repeatedly punched and elbowed in the head and rib cage while on the ground.

The arrest of two men in Miami Beach sparked an internal affairs investigation within the city’s own police department.

Florida Teen Gets Tased By Cop For Visiting Girlfriend

A state trooper in Florida profiled and then used excessive force when he fired a stun gun at a teenager who was in his girlfriend’s backyard waiting to see her, the boy’s mother said Wednesday.

Outrage after Florida trooper uses Taser on teen

A Florida state trooper is under investigation after he was caught on home surveillance video using a Taser on a 16-year-old boy outside his girlfriend’s home.

This is another example of tasers being used to TORTURE people who cops decided to PUNISH for failing to submit to their demands.

Also another example why Police Reform is needed to eliminate Qualified Immunity so cops can be SUED for everything they’ve got for engaging in abusive, outrageous conduct.

Cops TASER and BEAT Black Teen Over Vaping

Police in Ocean City, Maryland tasered and kicked teen over a strict anti-vaping ban. This is another example of how tasers are used to TORTURE & PUNISH people for no good reason and why tasers should be made illegal

Senate President Bill Ferguson, a Democrat, said in a statement: “No teenager should face brutality for walking along the Boardwalk.”

Sherrilyn Ifill, president of the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, called on Maryland Attorney General Brian Frosh to investigate. Frosh responded, saying he was “deeply concerned” and has been in contact with law enforcement.

The NAACP Maryland State Conference announced it would hold a news conference Wednesday in Annapolis, demanding an investigation into Saturday’ incident and calling for all officers involved to be removed from their posts until an investigation is completed.

“This incident along with other videos show a consistent pattern of assaults on African Americans and sends a message that African American tourist dollars are either not respected or wanted,” the organization wrote in a statement.

The ACLU of Maryland condemned the officers’ actions as an example of why officers across the state must undergo training on a new use of force standard that was passed by the General Assembly this past session.

“Disturbingly, Ocean City police didn’t even try to de-escalate, especially over something as minor as vaping, which is not a criminal issue. The amount of force used here was inappropriate,” the ACLU statement said.
