23-year-old Black man Elijah McClain died in police custody in Aurora, CO, last year. His family’s quest for justice has gone viral after millions signed a petition demanding answers.

In US news and current events today, the death last year of Elijah McClain has led for calls for justice for Elijah. Police in Aurora, Colorado took Elijah into custody though no crime was committed and forcibly administered ketamine to him. Elijah McClain was later pronounced brain dead and died days later. Now, the family of Elijah McClain are seeking answers as the reckoning for racist police and police brutality continues to sweep the globe. After the police killing of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Rayshard Brooks, and countless other Black people in America, the resulting George Floyd protests and Black Lives Matter protests against police brutality, police racism, and police violence have put systemic racism in the spotlight as BLM protesters take to the streets in support of police reform, racial justice and civil rights.
